Postmortem: Pitch Presentation

Within team Jacks of All Trades, we were supposed to come together as a team and watch a video prompt, which was supposed to inspire us to design a game to pitch to investors. Our team's understanding of the objective was rocky at first, but we managed to push forward. Once we were all on the same page and understood what we had to do, we were able to overcome the obstacles within the assignments. Now for problems, if any, the team handled them as a whole. We would talk out the problems as a team, so everyone had a voice in solving problems. Once everyone said their peace, as a team, we chose the best outcome that helped the team. If there were personal problems, team members would settle them outside of the meeting and amongst each other, if the problem was not resolved, then the team would help out in the best way possible.

What Went Wrong:

One thing that I’d say went wrong is getting in touch with everybody within the first week. In the early stages, we had issues figuring out scheduling and roles for the team charter, as well as coming up with design ideas for the overall presentation. We weren’t sure what roles to give and what ideas to come up with until we got everyone together. But once we got everybody together, we started to mesh well and get the ball rolling.

What Went Right:

One thing that went well is that when we determined the meeting schedules, I tried to implement an agenda that would keep us moving in the right direction, like a schedule you would see at work. The agenda helped keep things focused and streamlined so that we had something to work on during the meetings. The most important thing is making sure you schedule the most important things first. If you don’t, then something will take up the majority of the meeting when it could have been saved for last.
